We recently completed an equipment platform for a client in Saugerties, NY. The space came with real challenges. A tight corner. A wall on one side. Building columns nearly 19 inches deep cutting through the footprint. Our team had to get creative to make it work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Challenge: Tight Corners and Big Columns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This platform had to sit in the corner of the warehouse. That meant working around a wall on one side and navigating deep structural columns without losing usable space. A standard layout wasn’t going to cut it here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our team designed a bar joist platform with cantilevered decking that runs the deck directly out to the wall. We cut precise notches around each column instead of boxing around them and wasting space. That decision alone reclaimed square footage most designs would have written off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stair Placement Mattered Just as Much<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Stair placement is easy to overlook, but it can make or break how a platform actually functions. The stairs couldn’t extend into the flow of materials on the floor below. We positioned them as close to the existing building column in the corner as possible. That kept them tucked out of the way while fitting the footprint perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Built for Flow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A platform is only as good as the work that happens on it. We added a swing gate on the end of the platform so material flow stays smooth during production and equipment servicing stays easy. No climbing over rails. No awkward workarounds. Just a clean path in and out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
